The American Institute of Architects Baton Rouge is hosting a series of community meetings this week to provide answers to questions flood victims may have about home repairs and the flood recovery. The forum style meetings are taking place in Ascension, East Baton Rouge and Livingston parishes.
AIA BR Executive Director Kathleen Gordon says that with so many people impacted by the flooding the association knows there will be many questions, adding there’s a need to provide a source for information that the public can trust.
The meetings will include representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, public officials, architects, contractors, and those who can answer questions about homeowners’ insurance and mortgage loans. There will also be general information on flood recovery, such as how to save photos and important documents.
One meeting was already held in Zachary last Wednesday, and another will take place today in Prairieville.
“It’s a very organic style meeting,” Gordon says, adding that this is first time the association has held such meetings of this magnitude.
The schedule is as follows:
- Today: 6 p.m. at St. John Catholic Church, 15208 La. 73, Prairieville
- Tuesday: 5 p.m. at Louisiana State Archives, 3851 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge
- Wednesday: 6 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 865 Hatchell Lane, Denham Springs.
- Wednesday: 6 p.m. Goodwood Main Library, 7711 Goodwood Blvd., Baton Rouge
- Thursday: 6 p.m. at the Bluebonnet Library, 9200 Bluebonnet Blvd., Baton Rouge
