HOPE Ministries, a Capital Area United Way partner agency, has launched a website that allows shoppers to see a portion of their purchases at select online stores go to local nonprofits, schools and churches. Louisiana Community Marketplace allows shoppers to choose which agencies they’d like to support when making online purchases at stores such as Amazon, Target, Sears, Expedia and others via www.louisianacommunitymarketplace.com. Online sales revenue is currently an untapped source of income for nonprofits, says HOPE Ministries, and Louisiana Community Marketplace provides a way to access these resources without incurring any out-of-pocket expense. The endeavor is sponsored in part by ExxonMobil, the Capital Area United Way and Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations. HOPE Ministries is looking for additional nonprofits, schools, churches and companies to participate. Those interested can contact Janet Simmons at 355-0702, ext. 22, for more information, or e-mail her here, or email Melissa Tillery here.
