It took less than a day for the Collegiate Licensing Company to put an end to a sweepstakes, announced Tuesday by Babcock Partners, in which the law firm planned on giving away a pair of tickets to Saturday’s highly anticipated showdown between No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama. Upon announcing the sweepstakes, Babcock immediately received a letter from CLC—the authorized licensing representative for both LSU and Alabama—asking the firm to end the promotion because “The University of Alabama’s ticket policy prohibits the use of tickets in unauthorized promotions.” The law firm in turn changed the sweepstakes prize to $1,000 instead of the tickets. “The University of Alabama’s Sports Information Department called us this morning and told us they would allow us to still give away the tickets, but that it would cost us $12,500. We passed on that opportunity,” reads a message posted on the law firm’s Facebook page today. “Les Miles and his Honey Badger will settle this dispute for us on Saturday night. Geaux Tigers!” Those who wish to enter the sweepstakes can do so at the firm’s Facebook page here until 7 p.m. The only requirement is that you “like” the page. The winner of the $1,000 will be announced on the page at 8 p.m.
