Baton Rouge area resale home prices increased by 0.64% in January, compared with a year before, according to a new national report. The very slight uptick is better than the 11.6% price drop reported nationwide, says First American CoreLogic’s LoanPerformance Home Price Index. The HPI — which is based on public records sources such as property sales, tax assessments and mortgage filings — has dropped nationally by double digits for 11 consecutive months. Louisiana’s HPI was up 0.1% in January when compared to a year earlier. Just 10 states saw increases in the HPI in January. West Virginia reported the biggest increase, with home prices up 9%. Prices were down nearly 27% in Nevada.
