Arkel International announced today it has been awarded a $28.7 million contract from the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Acquisition Management for work at Camp Prosperity in Baghdad, Iraq. Arkel says it will provide design and construction services, as well as contract coordination and supervision for the facilities necessary to establish life support and other services at the camp, which was previously a home of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein. The Department of State is currently reconfiguring the site in view of the U.S. troop withdrawal and the need for the U.S. Embassy to provide additional housing and support services. Arkel International is an infrastructure and essential services contractor to government agencies, the U.S. military and major industrial corporations. Based in Baton Rouge, the company has offices in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kenya, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
