Winnings at Baton Rouge’s two riverboat casinos were collectively down 5.5% in December compared to the same month in 2010, according to figures compiled by the Louisiana State Police and released today by the state’s Gaming Control Board. The Belle of Baton Rouge accounted for most of the decline. Its winnings were off 13.3% on the month, while Hollywood Casino saw its take drop just 0.7% on the month. The Belle of Baton Rouge has since October been attributing lower winnings to a $7 million renovation that had parts of the casino shuttered through the holidays. The casino has said it expects its numbers to be back on track early this year. Louisiana’s 13 riverboat casinos, one land-based casino and four racetrack casinos also collectively saw winnings drop in December. The tally totaled $201.9 million—down 1.2% from $204.3 million in December 2010. Year-end figures show Louisiana’s state-licensed casinos took in $2.37 billion in 2011—virtually flat from the 2010 total.
