Baton Rouge’s two riverboat casinos won 4.1% less in May than they did the year before. The Belle of Baton Rouge and Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge brought in $15.8 million in May, compared with $16.5 million in May 2010. The Belle, the city’s oldest casino, had the biggest drop in earnings, falling 5.4% from $6.1 million in May 2010 to $5.8 million in May. Hollywood Casino saw a 3.4% drop in earnings, from nearly $10.4 million in May 2010 to just over $10 million last month. Statewide, Louisiana’s gambling industry was down slightly from May 2010. The 13 riverboat casinos, Harrah’s casino in downtown New Orleans and the four racetrack casinos won $203.2 million from players last month. The year before, the tally was $203.6 million.
