Foreclosure rates in Baton Rouge increased in August by a scant 0.03% over the same period last year, according to data released today by CoreLogic. Baton Rouge’s 2.44% foreclosure rate remains lower than the state average of 2.51% and the national average of 3.43%. The August state average represents a decrease of 0.09% from a year ago, while the national rate is an increase of 0.16%. For historical comparison, Baton Rouge’s foreclosure rate was 1.28% in January 2009; 2.08% in January 2010; and 2.79% in January of this year. Meanwhile, the mortgage delinquency rate—that is, the percentage of home loans that are more than 90 days delinquent—also fell to 5.54% in August, down 0.27% from August 2010.
