Motivational speaker and author Karyn Buxman will deliver the keynote address at next week’s luncheon honoring this year’s Influential Women in Business, as presented by Business Report.
As a self-described “neurohumorist”—one who researches the neurobiology of humor—Buxman is the author of a series of books focused on how professionals in a variety of fields can use humor to stay sane, maximize potential and increase their company’s bottom line. Among Buxman’s key messages: “Humor is power,” and “It’s more important to see funny, then to be funny.”
The luncheon will take place on Wednesday, June 10, at the Crowne Plaza, 4728 Constitution Ave., from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Individual tickets are $45 and can be purchased online. Tables of 10 are also available.
Though they work in different fields, this year’s Influential Women in Business honorees share a spirit of perseverance and a passion for what they do. The honorees, as profiled as part of the current Business Report cover package, are:

- Nanette McCann, principal of Baton Rouge Magnet High School & Lee High School.
- Dr. Meredith Warner, orthopedic surgeon and founder of Warner Orthopedics & Wellness
- Angela Zeringue, plant manager at ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Polyolefins.
