The Louisiana Legislative Auditor submitted an audit report Monday morning detailing that GOHSEP’s Hazard Mitigation Program was missing sufficient documentation for nearly $3 million of payments disbursements during the first half of the year.

GOHSEP’s Hazard Mitigation Program submitted 700 reimbursement requests in the first six months of the year totaling $56 million. Of those, 86 requests—or 5% of requests—weren’t sufficiently documented.

Lack of procurement documentation made the bulk of exceptions at nearly 70%.

The program worked with vendors to resolve $8.7 million of the exception amount.

In response to the audit, Assistant Deputy Director Sean Wyatt wrote that the department takes exceptions noted seriously and strives to manage the program in a conscientious manner. Read the full audit report here.
