The Louisiana Legislative Auditor today published a report that found the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority was missing sufficient documentation for how it spent $125,972 from July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019.
The auditor analyzed $68.8 million in the agency’s invoices from the last fiscal year and found that 0.18% of the expenditures weren’t fully supported. However, CPRA management worked with their vendors to resolve $108,682 (86.27%) of the exception amount. A total of $17,290 (13.73%) remains unresolved.
The CPRA is tasked with developing, implementing, and enforcing a comprehensive coastal protection and restoration master plan for the state and for administering funds related to the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill
In response to the audit, CPRA CFP Janice Lansing wrote that the issue was a matter of opinion as to what constitutes sufficient documentation for an expense. Read the full audit report here.
