Cannon’s full circle: Louisiana Public Broadcasting’s documentary Circles: The Life of Billy Cannon chronicles the Baton Rouge native’s rise from humble beginnings to LSU football stardom, including his Heisman Trophy, professional career and successful orthodontic practice. The film also examines Cannon’s dramatic fall from grace following a federal counterfeiting conviction and his eventual redemption. The documentary premieres Monday at 7 p.m. on LPB and will be available to stream free through LPB Passport for two weeks beginning Sept. 14.

AI’s gas appetite: U.S. data centers are projected to increase natural gas consumption by 15 billion cubic feet per day by 2035, surpassing current gas use in all but four countries. Natural gas is expected to provide 69% of the power needed by new grid-connected data centers because of its abundance, relatively low production costs and ability to quickly ramp up and down to meet the demands of AI facilities. The surge in demand from data centers and LNG export plants could create challenges for U.S. gas producers, which would need to produce an additional 11 billion cubic feet per day beyond projected output growth to meet forecast demand. Paying for less: The NFL’s lucrative media strategy is facing questions about return on investment as its Sunday Ticket package becomes more expensive while offering fewer games. YouTube is projected to spend nearly $9 billion over seven years for Sunday Ticket, compared with roughly $1 billion in losses DirecTV absorbed in its final season, as the NFL increasingly moves games into prime-time and other national broadcast windows. The strategy could frustrate fans and strain relationships with broadcasters as the league raises prices and requires viewers to subscribe to more streaming services to watch games.
