Shooting will take place over several days: Sections of three Mid City streets will be closed Thursday through Monday for the filming of Universal Soldier: A New Dimension, an action movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren. Gayosa Street, from North 19th to North 22nd streets, and North 21st Street, from Spanish Town Road to North Street, will be closed from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday. Filming in that area will include simulated car crashes and stunts. A section of North 19th Street running along the railroad tracks from North Boulevard to Government Street will be closed from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Police say intermittent closures for filming will go on around the North Boulevard overpass from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Monday.
Numbers keep going up: Health care costs for U.S. employers are expected to increase 8.5% in 2012, according to a new report. The annual Behind the Numbers report published by PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Health Research Institute, says this will come after an 8% increase for employers in 2011. PwC, a health care adviser, says the sluggish economic recovery and high unemployment has caused people to seek fewer medical services. The company had originally predicted a 9% increase in medical costs this year. PwC notes that mitigating factors, such as increased cost sharing with employees, could put the rise in medical costs for 2012 at 7%. The company based the figures on interviews with about 1,700 employers.
