Visiting Boston: Scott Wu, a freshman at Baton Rouge Magnet High who won the 2011 Raytheon MATHCOUNTS National Competition, is being honored in Boston today and Friday. Wu will meet with the New England Patriots before their game tonight, visit the city’s Museum of Science, and hold a question-and-answer session. Wu beat out 223 other middle-school students to win the national math competition. His brother, Neal, a Baton Rouge Magnet High graduate now attending Harvard, won the competition in 2005.

Help wanted: Convergys is set to hire 150 employees at its Florida Boulevard call center to handle customer service and support for a telecommunications company. Alex Trejos, recruitment manager for Convergys in Baton Rouge, says program growth at the call center has led to the demand for more jobs.

One part of North Boulevard to open, another part to close: The ongoing work at the North Boulevard Town Square is leading to a shift in downtown traffic. The eastbound section of North Boulevard, from St. Louis to St. Ferdinand streets, is set to reopen to traffic from St. Louis Street at 6 a.m. Tuesday. St. Louis will revert to a one-lane road from Louisiana Avenue to North Street. Louisiana Avenue will revert to two-way traffic between St. Louis and St. Ferdinand. North Boulevard westbound will be completely closed to traffic between Third and Fourth streets. The closure is expected to continue through 5 p.m. Oct. 30. The only access to Third Street from North Boulevard will be via River Road.
