The former residential division of Donnie Jarreau Real Estate has formed a new real estate company that will be a franchise of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, the nation’s fourth-largest real estate brokerage company.
The new firm will be called Berkshire Hathaway Home Services-United Properties and will be co-owned by Jonathan Starns and Chase Muller. A total of 15 agents, all of whom formerly worked at Donnie Jarreau, are joining the new firm.
Jarreau recently broke up his 18-year-old firm, selling the commercial division to NAI/Latter & Blum and the real estate division to Starns and Muller. He has retained the development arm of the business and will continue to work in commercial development under NAI/Latter & Blum.
For Starns and Muller, the affiliation with BHHS provides an opportunity to work with a fast-growing national real estate company, which they believe will make it easier to attract and train new agents as the firm grows.
“Berkshire Hathaway Home Services is the fastest growing real estate company in the United States, currently servicing 47 states,” Muller says. “We found their tools and support mechanisms to be second to none, and the training programs provide a structured system for agents to grow in.”
BHHS, which is owned by billionaire Warren Buffett’s Nebraska-based holding company Berkshire Hathaway, also brings a prestigious brand to the local market. This will be the first BHHS affiliate brokerage in the Capital Region, though not the only one in Louisiana.
“Berkshire Hathaway is a well known name and allows us the opportunity to brand the luxury name Berkshire Hathaway Home Services here in Baton Rouge,” Starns says.
Though BHHS-United Properties is concentrated in the residential market, the new firm will also do commercial sales and leasing.
“We already have a pretty good portfolio of commercial clients who came with us,” Starns says. “Over the next 30 days you’ll see a lot of BHHS cabernet and cream signs popping up on residential and commercial properties.”
The official launch date for the new firm is May 17. BHHS-United Properties will be located in new offices on Wrenwood Boulevard.
