DSLD Homes continues building along Burbank Drive corridor

DSLD Homes has purchased 100 lots in the first filing of Lake Villas subdivision, a brand new residential neighborhood on Burbank Drive off Ben Hur Road, and will begin constructing homes there as early as October.

The homebuilder snagged the lots for $5.6 million from developer Kevin Nguyen’s America Homeland LLC. The deal closed earlier this week.

The entire subdivision will comprise just under 200 homes, says DSLD Partner Jeff Purpera. The company plans to build three- to four-bedroom brick homes ranging from 1,700 to 2,300 square feet.

Amenities include front loading garages; the homes will be priced from $200,000 to $260,000. The entire subdivision will comprise about 70 acres; it has already received approval from the Planning Commission.

DSLD Homes has been building homes along the Burbank Drive corridor for some time—including Hunter’s Trace, a residential subdivision between Starling Lane and West Lee Drive, and Magnolia Lakes.

“It’s not a bad area. There is a lot of activity in the area,” Purpera says. “The previous ones were a success. The demand seems to be a good. There’s a lot of growth in that area south of LSU down to the parish line.”

DSLD Homes plans to pull permits for the homes in Lake Villas next month; the first homes tentatively will hit the market in January.
