Downtown taco bar Somos Bandidos closed

Somos Bandidos, the downtown Baton Rouge taco bar, has closed after two years in business, the Downtown Development District confirmed this afternoon.

District marketing coordinator Casey Tate says no plans have been made for the now-vacated space on North Boulevard, adding restaurant owner Pat Fellows notified him of the closure “just a few weeks ago.”

In late 2016, the taco joint—which translates to “we are bandits”—filled the space that had previously belonged to salad shop Freshjunkie, another Fellows concept. In an April 2017 Business Report Entrepreneur feature, Fellows reported combined annual revenues from all his businesses as $2.3 million.

The news comes as the area is growing, although another downtown eatery, Lava Cantina, ceased its restaurant operations in July, opting to use its 3rd Street digs for private parties.

Fellows could not be reached for comment prior to publication.
