Monday — The Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour is set to stop in the Royal Cotillion Ballroom at the LSU Student Union from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Michael Simmons, who was named one of BusinessWeek’s top entrepreneurs under 25, and Joshua Kowitt, founder of Collegeboxes, the nation’s largest collegiate shipping and storage company, will be the guest speakers. Tuesday — Camm Morton, chief executive officer of Ashby Hospitality, will be the guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the Louisiana Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth. Wednesday — Mayor Kip Holden and some of his top officials kick off a “listening tour” of East Baton Rouge Parish with a 4 p.m. visit to St. Thomas More Church and a 6:30 p.m. stop at BREC Headquarters. These are the first in a series of 12 meetings that Holden says will be used to get citizen input on future priorities for the parish.
Wednesday — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development will hold a public meeting on the Interstate 10 widening project at 7 p.m. at St. George Catholic Church, off Siegen Lane. The meeting will allow the public to learn more about the $86.2 million project and to sign up and get e-mail updates on the work. Friday — Cynthia Bridges, secretary of the Louisiana Department of Revenue, will be the guest speaker at the Baton Rouge Black Chamber of Commerce’s executive luncheon. Feb. 9 — The Plan Baton Rouge Phase Two consultants will hold an public meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the Louisiana State Museum. The consultant team, which is creating the master plan for the next stage of downtown development, will take questions and comments from the public.
