The owners of Big Red Storage in Zachary have purchased property on Old Scenic Highway, about a half-mile north of its intersection with Mount Pleasant Road, for $600,000 and are planning to build another self-storage business on the plot.
“We’ve already received all the necessary approvals for it, so we’ve got an architect working on the plans right now,” says Vidal Davis, who is co-owner of G&D Self Storage LLC, along with Gary Guido. “We hope to start construction within 90 days, at the very most, and hopefully we’ll have it completed by early spring of next year.”
Though Davis and Guido plan for the new self-storage center to include about 112,000 square feet of space when fully built, the initial build-out will include about 80,000 square feet, Davis says.
“They will primarily be climate-controlled units, with a small percentage being standard units without climate control,” he says.
G&D Self Storage owns Big Red Storage at 3400 La. 19 in Zachary, and Guido also owns two self-storage businesses in Natchez, Mississippi. As for the name of the new business in Zachary, Davis says he and Guido are still making a decision.
“I think we’ll probably stick with the Big Red name for this one, too, but we’re still contemplating that,” he says.
Continued growth in the Zachary area led the duo, both of whom call Natchez home, to further invest there.
“The demographics are great. Zachary is still growing, and there are a lot of housing developments that are coming online there,” Davis says. “Storage is driven by relocation, education and schools, and we feel like Zachary has a strong future ahead.”
Under G&D Self Storage LLC, Davis and Guido purchased the land for the new business from JPT 964 LLC, represented by manager David Treppendahl Jr.
