The family that owns Benny’s Car Wash is working on a $2.5 million remodel of their Perkins Road business, near the CC’s Coffee House.
They’ve purchased the property behind the carwash from the city with plans to double the number of vacuums to 28 while also expanding the driveway space to Valley Street, says Justin Alford, whose family has owned Benny’s since 1951.
Also, the company is updating equipment and remodeling the building’s facade, Alford says.
The Perkins Road area has seen an increase in business as it’s been developed, and Alford wants to be better able to handle growing demand.
The Gonzales location is also being upgraded, getting a remodeled car wash and new equipment. Earlier this summer, the company, which has over 300 employees, started on its eighth car wash in the region, on Lee Drive near the Burbank Drive intersection.
For now, the three projects are the only ones of the drawing board for the family-owned car wash chain, Alford says.
