Albemarle Corporation is announcing today it will increase global prices for generic active pharmaceutical ingredients by 8-12%, depending on the specific product. The price increases will take effect Oct. 15 or as contracts allow. The price increases will ensure Albemarle will be able to maintain quality, regulatory status and services in a challenging economic environment, the company says in a release.
Albemarle’s generic active pharmaceutical ingredients are part of the company’s Fine Chemistry Services Division in the Fine Chemistry global business unit. The division makes and markets bulk and niche active pharmaceutical ingredients for over-the-counter and prescription drugs, in addition to providing custom manufacturing, research and development, and other services to makers of pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, specialty materials and other high-value markets.
