The Albemarle Corporation has launched an Electronic Materials business unit to provide electronics-grade metals for the LED, semiconductor and solar panel markets. Albemarle says its Electronic Materials business has already begun selling commercial quantities of a number of products under its new PureGrowth brand that are used in a process to manufacture chips for LED backlighting in displays and light bulbs. “By expanding into the electronic-grade metal organic arena, Albemarle will be able to provide a robust portfolio of complementary products and services used throughout the electronics industry,” says Jenny Hebert, global product manager for Electronic Materials. “Albemarle will also benefit from a number of R&D and distribution synergies shared by its various business units.” Headquartered in Baton Rouge, Albemarle is a leading global developer, manufacturer and marketer of specialty chemicals for consumer electronics, petroleum refining, utilities, packaging, construction, automotive/transportation, pharmaceuticals, crop protection, food-safety and custom chemistry services.
