Ever since he had 18 tackles in a preseason game against Hoover (Ala.) High School as a sophomore, Kwon Alexander has been regarded as one of the top players in his area. This morning, before a crowd of well-wishers, Alexander donned a purple-and-gold bow tie and suspenders, and signed a national letter of intent with LSU. Alexander, a 6-foot-2, 212-pound linebacker from Oxford, Ala., chose the Tigers over Alabama and Auburn. His signing helped increase LSU’s recruiting class to 22 by 3 p.m., a total that includes five defensive backs, four linebackers, three offensive linemen and three wide receivers. The class ranks No. 6 by Scout.com, No. 12 by Rivals.com, No. 13 by MaxPreps and No. 14 by ESPN. The Tigers have 23 commitments, with the expectation of signing the Southeastern Conference limit of 25 prospects overall. For more on LSU’s class, click here. Meanwhile, the Landon Collins recruiting saga officially ended this afternoon, when he signed with Alabama. Collins, a Dutchtown High School safety who is the state’s top prospect, chose the Crimson Tide over LSU at the Under Armour All-America Bowl on Jan. 5. His mother, April Justin, previously stated she wished Collins would attend LSU; last week, she accused Alabama Coach Nick Saban of offering a “job” to Victoria Lowery, who is Collins’ girlfriend.
