Tuesday: Candidates running for the Louisiana House District 66 seat—Rep. Darrell Ourso, Rick Edmonds, Rick Bond and Rusty Seacrest—will address Ronald Reagan Newsmaker Luncheon at Café Américain, 7521 Jefferson Hwy. The reception begins at 11:30 a.m., with lunch and the meeting to begin at noon. The lunch is sponsored by the Republican Party of East Baton Rouge Parish. The primary election will be Saturday, Oct. 24. Lunch is $17, payable to the restaurant.

Friday: Applications are due to participate in the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations’ training program for those wishing to become board members of nonprofit organizations. The program will take place September through November, with training sessions to be held in the evening and will include topics such as roles and responsibilities of governing boards, fund development, financial management, and board conduct and procedures. Aug. 18 and 20: H&R Block hosts a pair of career fairs to discuss with interested candidates some 40 open positions at its Baton Rouge and Hammond offices. Available positions include receptionists, tax professionals and office managers. The Aug. 18 fair takes place from 9 a.m. to noon at 4523 Plank Road. The Aug. 20 fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1991 Wooddale Blvd.

Aug. 19: Livingston Parish Assessor Jeff Taylor and Livingston Parish President Layton Ricks will be guest speakers at the Livingston Parish Board of Realtors general membership meeting, which takes place at the Forrest Grove Plantation, 8743 Stephenson Drive, in Denham Springs. Registration and check in begins at 11:30 a.m., with the meeting to begin at noon and adjourn at 1 p.m. Livingston Parish President Layton Ricks will also be at the meeting as a guest. Early registration is $20. Cost at the door is $25. Register to attend.
