If you’re looking to wrap up your holiday weekend on a high note, 225 Weekender suggests you check out the Cajun sounds of BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet, which performs at The Varsity, 3353 Highland Road, on Saturday. Doors open at 8 p.m, showtime is 9 p.m. and tickets are $15.
2014 was a busy year for the Lafayette-based band, which spent much of the year touring in support of their 2013 album, From Bamako to Carencro. The critically acclaimed album solidified the band’s status as one of the premier globe-trotting ambassadors for the Cajun genre.
Also this holiday week, Manship Theatre will be screening three new independent films. Michel Gondry’s Mood Indigo will be shown tonight at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The 2014 American drama Before I Disappear will be shown on Friday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., as well as Saturday at 2 p.m. Manship will also screen the critically acclaimed horror film The Babadook Saturday at 6 p.m. Tickets for all shows are $7.
