Recovering from the devastation of the massive flooding is on most south Louisiana residents’ minds at the moment, but one thing might be able to offer the victims at least a little relief in the near future: LSU football.

Kickoff is drawing near—the Tigers’ season starts Sept. 3—and 225’s annual LSU issue hit newsstands earlier this month with every angle imaginable on the Tigers’ upcoming season.

There’s one player who is definitely ready for the season to start: Brandon Harris, the LSU quarterback who will be under an intense microscope this fall.

Harris is entering his junior season as a returning starting quarterback, something LSU has lacked since Zach Mettenberger started in 2012-2013. Skepticism of Harris’ ability to lead the Tigers adequately to a Southeastern Conference or national championship is somewhat warranted. Harris managed LSU to a 7-0 record and No. 2 ranking in the country through October last season, but the Tigers visited Tuscaloosa and were manhandled by Alabama, 30-16. It was the first of three straight November losses.

Harris is the unquestioned starter this season, but the spotlight will burn on him brightly this year with expectations sky high for a loaded and experienced Tiger squad.

Harris relishes this burden, invites the skeptics and welcomes the comments he receives from the haters.

“I don’t feel any pressure,” he says. “I’ve worked my tail off this offseason. I just have a feeling that people are going to change their perceptions once they see me this upcoming season.”
