Each new year brings a new opportunity to recommit to old resolutions or take up new challenges, and in its first issue of the year, 225 highlights a few locals’ resolutions for themselves and our city. George Krause IV, executive chef at Doe’s Eat Place, says he’s hopes the city will explore local neighborhood needs.
“Neighborhood groceries, shops, bars and restaurants are neglected for the larger chains and should be supported to keep the Baton Rouge economy flourishing,” he says.
Renee Chatelain, executive director of Manship Theatre, says her resolution this year is to tackle the city’s HIV/AIDS epidemic.
“Everybody should be involved in eradicating this situation,” she says. “My resolution is that we help fellow members of the community to fight this disease and to help our health professionals fight it.”
Mayor Kip Holden, meanwhile, wants to erase “a lot of negative out of our system.”
“[We have to] show that Baton Rouge is not just a great city by what we say—don’t show them by talking, show them by action,” the mayor says. Read the full feature.
