A first-of-its-kind app allows Baton Rouge diners to scope out the best locally-owned restaurants and bars in town, get exclusive special offers and book same-day reservations, all the while eliminating the need to wait for a check.
225 magazine has launched 225 Requested, a free smartphone app for Android and iPhone users. The app allows diners to browse menus, make reservations, and pay for their meals.
“We’re connecting diners looking for a unique and convenient culinary experience with the best restaurants in town,” says Julio Melara, publisher of 225. “This technology promises to do for dining what Uber did for transportation.”
The app works by presenting users with a curated list of the top locally owned restaurants and bars and enables them to preview menus. Reservations also can be booked via 225 Requested.
Users should mention to the hostess when they arrive at the restaurant that they’ve booked their reservation through the app. At the end of their meal, the server will provide a check that diners can keep for their records.
225 Requested will automatically charge the meal to Apple Pay or a secure credit card on file. A pre-set tip can be adjusted before a transaction is completed. The app even allows dining parties to split the check and makes it possible to charge the meal to a company.
“You can discover local restaurants you may never have experienced, you can get special offers you can’t get anywhere else, and you can take off after you dine,” says Curtis Heroman, chief innovation officer for 225, adding that there’s no more waiting around the for the check to come when time is limited.
Users are encouraged to share a referral link of 225 Requested with friends after their experience with the app. Their friends get $5 to try the app, and each time one of the friends completes their first transaction, the original user gets a $5 credit added to their account.
