For LSU baseball fans, the name Trey Hodges conjures a lot of memories. In 2000, he was part of one of the best teams in the club’s history.
“[The 2000 season] is one of those moments—you really and truly can’t put a price on it, and you can’t replace it” he tells 225 in a feature from the current issue.
2000 was a special year for Hodges not only because of the championship, but also because of the physical challenges his body was going through. At the time, he had returned from a bicep injury in his throwing arm. He says it was rewarding to come back and fight for his team.
Nowadays, Hodges is working on the next chapter in his life. A current Lafayette resident, Hodges is an insurance salesman and financial planner for Northwestern Mutual. To this day, he and some of the teammates hang out, but they aren’t reliving memories. They talk about hunting, fishing and their jobs.
“We’re in the real world now,” he says. “We’ve turned the page. We’re fans now.”
