Alongside its handcrafted cakes, cupcake bar and other treats, Tredici Bakery & Cafe, 508 Capital Heights Ave., has recently started offering an Italian-inspired lunch consisting of one or two flatbread pizzas and one soup option each day, 225 Dine reports.

Owner Monica Shaughnessy says she wants to serve unique lunches, so she brainstorms daily to think up interesting flatbread ideas and soup pairings.

“I just wanted to offer a lunch that’s quick and light, but also freshly made … and then you have room to top it off with a dessert after,” Shaughnessy says.

Recent lunch menus have featured a chicken taco flatbread with white cheddar poblano soup, artichoke pesto flatbread with artichoke and chicken florentine soup, and a hummus and vegetable flatbread with tomato pesto soup.

Like the desserts, the lunch items are made in-house by Shaughnessy and her staff.

She says the lunch menu will remain a daily special for a while, but she soon hopes to serve in a style similar to Magpie Cafe, offering several options daily but changing weekly to offer fresh, seasonal fare.

Shaughnessy also says she plans to expand the Tredici website soon, where weekly menus will be posted.
