With the craft beer market becoming increasingly crowded, Tin Roof’s new CEO Jacob Talley has big plans for keeping Baton Rouge’s biggest brewery relevant in the years to come, 225 Dine reports.

Talley knows the beer business inside and out. He spent five years as a brand manager for Mockler Beverage before taking the helm this month at Tin Roof. In his new job, Talley plans to possibly transform the brewery’s outdoor space into a beer garden with food options, but his main task is to keep Tin Roof relevant in an increasingly cutthroat environment.

“We need to streamline our offerings in the marketplace,” he tells 225 Dine in a Q&A feature. “If brands aren’t working or they aren’t cutting it anymore, we need to eliminate that or replace them with something people are actually chasing. We need to eliminate the clutter and go with what works.”

Part of the job, Talley says, is to identify brands and trends that get people excited. Tin Roof intends to utilize its taproom to build momentum around new brands pushed to distribution, he adds. That will help the brewery figure out which products perform well in terms of retail sales.

“We’ve had the same seasonals for four or five years now. They work, but you see it decline every year a little bit because of new breweries coming in,” he says. “We’ve got to change with the times, too, so we want to revamp that a little bit and maybe pick three brands instead of four or five.”
