Thousands of people are expected to converge on Mid City tonight for the 13th annual Hot Art, Cool Nights spring art hop. The festival, which showcases local artists, kicks off at 6 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will festival, which is put on by the Mid City Merchants, will help purchase public art for Mid City.
Even though art is taking center stage, 225 Dine reports there will be an array of food options available for art hop-goers to munch on as they browse local wares, and it has compiled a list of restaurants serving dinner, desserts and snacks.
Brew Ha Ha, at 711 Jefferson Hwy., is one of the eateries spotlighted. Known for its cake balls, Brew Ha Ha will feature 12 artists and karaoke tonight. Nearby sampling tables will be set up outside of neighboring Monjuni’s Italian Cafe & Grocery. Monjuni’s also is hosting Kirk Holder, a local musician, and two artists.
New Mid City tenant Red Stick Spice, 660 Jefferson Hwy,, will have a full service olive oil and vinegar tasting bar and pasta salad on display, while Simple Joe Cafe, at 3079 Government St., is extending its hours into the night to serve up hamburgers, chicken and shrimp quesadilla, peanut butter fudge, veggie wraps, homemade cookies and Sumatra River Road coffee.
On North Boulevard, Chef William Wells’ catering company will set up a popup restaurant at the corner of North Boulevard and Bedford. He will serve crawfish risotto, quail street tacos, rib-eye French dip sliders and more.
Restaurants such as Lasseigne’s American Grill and Mestizo Louisiana Mexican Cuisine, will also venture into the neighborhood tonight to serve up beer, fried fish and other options to art hop-goers.
