‘225 Dine’: Where to eat and drink during the 2016 Wearin’ of the Green Parade

If you’re making plans to skip breakfast at home so you can claim your spot early along the 2016 Wearin’ of the Green Parade route Saturday, don’t stress.

225 Dine has compiled a list of restaurants along the parade route so you can grab a bite to eat without the risk of losing your spot.

With more than 20 restaurants up and down Perkins Road, there’s something for even the pickiest of eaters, the e-newsletter reports. The list is comprised of options from the beginning to the end of the parade route.

Grab a cup of coffee at Garden District Coffee, 2008 Perkins Road, or a beer or martini at Duvic’s, 2854 Kalurah St. Garden District Coffee will be open from 7-10:30 a.m. and 3-8 p.m. Saturday, while Duvic’s opens at 9 a.m. sharp. An outdoor beer truck will be serving unlimited draft beer. A dedicated booth will serve Irish car bombs as fast as you can drink them, 225 Dine reports.

DiGiulio Brothers Italian Cafe, 2903 Perkins Road, is perfect for chowing down on massive amounts of carbs. The eatery will open at 5 p.m. Saturday. Meanwhile, Ivar’s Sports Bar & Grill, 2919 Perkins Road, will serve up loaded cheese fries and decked-out hamburgers. It opens at 7 a.m. on Saturday.

Opening at 9 a.m., George’s Restaurant, 2943 Perkins Road, offers classic Louisiana cuisine such as po-boys. Finger foods and sandwiches also are on the menu. 

“Charcuterie boards are a great way to ward off hunger pangs but still leave room for more beer,” 225 Dine reports of City Pork Deli & Charcuterie. The deli, which is a perfect option for buying snacks, is offering a variety of drink specials, including $6 Parade Bombs with Tin Roof’s Parade Ground brew, 225 Dine says.

Also among those serving food and drinks along the route are Schlittz & Giggles, Jimmy John’s, The Big Squeezy, Rock-n-Sake, Pinetta’s European Restaurant, Crispy Catch, Street Breads, Zippy’s and others.
