Baton Rouge is getting in on the Cinco de Mayo celebrations this week and next week. The city has more than a handful of Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants that are providing drink and food specials as well as live entertainment.
Among the specials featured by 225 is Caliente Mexican Craving. The West Lee Drive restaurant and bar will host a five-day musical celebration, starting Friday with a performance from Burris from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Lava Cantina also will host a multiple-day celebration, starting Saturday with a performance from Ovi-G Froggies at 9 p.m.
Next Tuesday, Mestizo at South Acadian Thruway will have a limited menu and hours of 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. with music from DJ Otto in the evening, as well as a “pimped out sombrero” contest. In downtown Baton Rouge, Lucy’s Retired Surfers Bar & Restaurant will have tons of specials, including 5-cent margaritas for five minutes at 5 p.m.
