The Baton Rouge Blues Festival taking place downtown Saturday and Sunday offers more than just a weekend of great music.
As 225 Dine reports, the free festival will also dish up a wide variety of culinary options, from festival staples to traditional Louisiana fare.
Any O’ Cajun, a Louisiana pop-up kitchen and catering company specializing in Cajun and Creole cuisine, will be serving up fried catfish, pulled pork and grillades and grits. Dat’z Italian will also be on hand, cooking up a wide range of wood-fired pizzas, including a muffaletta pizza, kale and Italian sausage. There’s even a Dat’z a Sunrise breakfast pizza, which features a sunny-side-up egg and your choice of meat on a bed of spinach, pesto and mozzarella.
Local artisan bakery Rösch Bakehaus recently posted images of a muffaletta-stuffed pretzel on its Facebook page in preparation for the blues festival this weekend. The bakery specializes in small batch, handmade traditional German pretzels.
As for barbecue offerings, Baton Rouge’s Barbosa’s BBQ is bringing Texas-style barbecue to the festival. It’s specialty dish places burnt ends atop braised greens and cheese grits, with house-made pickled onions on top and Louisiana cane syrup drizzled around the edge.
Lafayette-based Chet’s Grill & Cheesesteaks will also be at the festival, cooking up Philly cheesesteaks and Cajun sausage sandwiches that owner Chet Marelli describes as “the best in the business.”
Mandeville’s MRTN Ventures specializes in Cajun and Creole fair and festival foods. Some of its specialities include crawfish quesadillas, alligator sausage and potato ribbons. Vendor The Frying Station specializes in everything fried. Items include fried chicken wings, fried catfish and fried shrimp.
