The Memorial Day weekend is a prime time to get away, but there are plenty of reasons to stay in Baton Rouge this time around, 225 Dine reports.
For starters, Darius Rucker, Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean are headlining the Bayou Country Superfest that kicks off today in Tiger Stadium and runs through Sunday.
The Baton Rouge Gallery’s summer film series Movies & Music on the Lawn also begins at 8 p.m. tonight at City Park, 1515 Dalrymple Dr. The series will begin with the showing of The Adventures of Prince Achmed, with music from Righteous Buddha. Movies & Music on the Lawn pairs iconic silent films with live, original scores from Baton Rouge’s top local, contemporary bands. Admission is $7.
Also, City Pork Brasserie and Bar, 7327 Jefferson Hwy., is hosting a viewing party at 7 p.m. on May 29 for an episode of Guy Fieri-led Food Network’s Guy’s Grocery Games, which will feature an appearance from Chef Eusbio Gongora, City Pork’s director of culinary operations. Gongora will showcase his culinary skills on the episode.
On Memorial Day, the USS Kidd Veterans Museum is sponsoring a Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony at 10 a.m.. The free event will take place at the Louisiana Memorial Plaza, 305 South River Road, and is open to the public.
