If you’re trying to lose weight, build muscle, store up more energy or  treat your body right, protein-packed lunches can give you and your metabolism a much-needed midday boost.

But between carb-loaded sandwiches and salad fatigue, it can be hard to find a lunch with the right macronutrients that doesn’t cost upwards of $20 or put you in a food coma for the rest of the day.

To help you out, 225 Dine has compiled a list of restaurants in and around the Capital City where you can fill up on protein.

“Greek and Lebanese restaurants in Baton Rouge offer plenty of protein options,” 225 Dine says. Albasha Greek & Lebanese Restaurant serves up a protein-packed plate that features grape leaves, cabbage, squash and bell pepper all stuffed with meat.

If Greek and Lebanese food isn’t your thing, Dang’s Restaurant sells Pho, Vietnam’s classic noodle soup, with meat- and marrow-based broth.

“Order up some meatball pho and skip the noodles if you’re keeping it low carb,” the e-newsletter says. Hello Sushi provides another option for a protein-packed lunch. The sushi restaurant serves a sashimi sampler that includes fresh, raw slices of assorted sashimi with lean proteins such as tuna or salmon.

“For the vegetarians among us, a protein-packed lunch is still possible,” 225 Dine says.

Meat and fish aren’t the only source of protein. MJ’s Cafe specializes in meat-free dishes such as chowder made with quinoa, which contains eight grams of protein per cup, potatoes, scallions, spinach and feta in a veggie broth.
