Every picture tells a story, and this year 225 received nearly 200 entries for its annual Photo Contest sponsored by Kadair’s. Each year, 225 invites its readers, both amateur and professional photographers, to submit images that reflect the themes of community, dedication, food, journey, joy, struggle and refuge. This year the magazine turned those entries over to two judges: portrait photographer Amy James and photojournalist Tim Mueller, both acclaimed veterans of their craft. Together, they chose their favorites in each category as well as an overall “Best in Show” winner. Category winners receive a $100 gift card to Kadair’s, and the overall winner receives a $300 gift card. Take some time this afternoon to check out the winning photos of 2012, which make up this month’s 225 cover package. They can all be found online here.
