The Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, or LABI, has released its 2026 Legislative Scorecard, recognizing lawmakers whose votes supported policies the organization characterized as advancing Louisiana’s competitiveness, economic growth and opportunities for job creation.
Several Louisiana Capital Region lawmakers were among the honorees. Sen. Rick Edmonds, R-Baton Rouge, and Sen. Caleb Kleinpeter, R-Port Allen, were named MVPs, as were Rep. Tony Bacala, R-Prairieville, and Rep. Barbara Freiberg, R-Baton Rouge. Sen. Franklin Foil, R-Baton Rouge, received an honorable mention.
The scorecard evaluated 16 bills selected based on LABI members’ policy priorities and recognized 90 legislators who earned scores of at least 80%, including 52 Most Valuable Policymakers with perfect scores, 16 All-Stars and 22 Honorable Mentions. LABI President and CEO Will Green said the results reflect sustained involvement from the business community in recruiting and supporting lawmakers, mobilizing advocates and promoting free-enterprise policies.
Workforce development was a particular focus of the session, with LABI pointing to legislation that expanded career pathways, strengthened work-based learning and better connected education with employers’ workforce needs.
LABI said the scorecard demonstrates what can be accomplished when lawmakers, businesses and free-enterprise advocates work toward shared economic goals. As Louisiana moves toward the 2027 election cycle, LABI said it will continue advocating for policies focused on investment, job creation, workforce development and economic opportunity.
