Texas chicken chain entering Louisiana market with Baton Rouge restaurant

Texas-based Golden Chick, specializing in chicken tenders, is expanding into Baton Rouge with a new restaurant on Airline Highway, near Florida Boulevard.

It appears some groundwork has begun on the property, across the street from Home Depot, with a sign saying the restaurant is “cooking soon.” The property is owned by Rass Re Enterprises LLC, according to online tax assessor’s records, and its local officer is Shahid Ghafoor. Representatives from Golden Chick were unable to be reached this morning for more information.

The chain—which also carries fried chicken and catfish—was founded in Texas in 1967, and has more than 180 locations throughout Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Texas. Jim Stevens, who was named the president of Golden Chick last month, says in a release he plans to focus on growing the people and culture, sales and profits with a goal to expand Golden Chick to 500 locations by 2030.
