More Baton Rouge mail found dumped as garbage

A Baton Rouge property manager says she found undelivered mail thrown away as garbage at Sherwood Forest Townhomes off S. Flannery Road, according to WBRZ-TV.

Debbie Henning says the property has seen illegal mail dumping recently, and on her ride around the development Monday she found another plastic bag in a puddle. Some of the items were fliers for an area gym, the rest was mail from the past week that wasn’t delivered.

Henning’s discovery comes after the U.S. Postal Service was forced in December to investigate problems with mail service in a separate zip code at the southeast postal station on Bennington Avenue. In that instance, mail carriers were discarding residents’ mail in trash cans and returning to the station with undelivered stacks of mail

Public Information Officer with the Office of Inspector General Jeldrys Lowry confirmed Tuesday that the dumped mail at the Sherwood Forest townhomes is under investigation. Read the full story.
