Longtime LSU-area pizza restaurant Mellow Mushroom announced today in a Facebook post it has closed.
The Burbank Drive restaurant was known for trivia nights and student specials and was open for 19 years. The Atlanta-based company still has locations in New Orleans and Lake Charles.
Mellow Mushroom was founded in 1974 and has more than 180 franchises. It is not known why the restaurant closed.
“We are very grateful to our loyal fans, our great team members past and present, and to everyone who has supported us on this fantastic voyage,” the restaurant posted.
The Baton Rouge Mellow Mushroom location was owned by Bruno Restaurant Group, which also operates Bonanno’s Fine Catering, Go Ya Ya’s Crepes, Yvette Marie’s Café and the House Dining Hall inside the State Capitol. Bruno Restaurant Group did not respond to a request for comment prior to this afternoon’s deadline.
