Flynn Foster, president and CEO of Guaranty Corporation, has been named the 2020 board chair of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, the organization announced this morning.
He will preside over the board as BRAC crafts its next five-year regional strategy.Â
In a prepared statement, BRAC President and CEO Adam Knapp says Foster’s “energy and breadth of understanding will be an asset” as the chamber charts its future direction, noting Foster has served on almost all of BRAC’s organizations and committees in the past.
“More than eight hundred thousand of us call the Baton Rouge metro home,” Foster says in a prepared statement. “Taking care of our home and making it a better place to live have never been more important.”
Prior to joining Guaranty in 2010, Foster spent 18 years in the financial services business. He has also served as a member of the Louisiana Art & Science Museum board, as Visit Baton Rouge Convention Bureau chairman and as Louisiana Association of Broadcasters chairman.
Foster’s appointment marks the latest development in what’s been a long history of partnership between BRAC and Guaranty. In the early 20th century, BRAC—then called the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce—helped recruit Guaranty Income Life Insurance Company to the area, according to the chamber.
In his new role, Foster succeeds Randy Cangelosi, partner at Kean Miller LLP, who chaired the board throughout 2019. The full 2020 board list will be released online at brac.org in the coming week.
