The developers of Heritage Crossing, a new mixed-use development in Gonzales, have closed on a 5.11-acre tract to be the site of a new performance arts, conference and events center.
Developer Double D of Louisiana sold the property, located in the heart of the development at Highways 44 and 30 in Gonzales, to the city of Gonzales for $1.5 million, paid by a donation from the Price Leblanc family. Construction for the Price Leblanc PACE Center, the civic anchor for the development, will begin next year.
Groundwork started earlier this year for Heritage Crossing, which will feature a grocery store, restaurants, offices, shops, medical offices and other businesses in the commercial side of the development. Developers already have signed a grocer, but spokeswoman Sarah Bennett says they cannot disclose the name at this time.
There are also plans for a residential component. The development is adjacent to Our Lady of the Lake Ascension.
Editor’s note: This story has been updated since it was first published to show that the developers sold the property to the city of Gonzales.
