Baton Rouge-based Community Coffee will soon begin a $3.8 million upgrade to a former warehouse on its corporate headquarters site on Partridge Lane, transforming it into a new area welcome area for visitors.
The building became available for its new use after Community Coffee built its distribution center in Port Allen. Construction on the 11,000-square-foot facility will begin sometime this year and last 10 to 12 months, says Candace Tucker, a communications specialist with Community Coffee. Milton J. Womack Inc. will be the contractor for the project, according to permit documents.
The welcome center will also help beef up safety measures, Tucker says, enabling a dedicated entrance for corporate visitors.
In January, board chairman and fourth-generation owner Matt Saurage said the company’s short-term strategy was to saturate the markets where the business currently operates.
