Baton Rouge-based chef Jay Ducote is going to be on TV, again.
Ducote announced on his website jayducote.com that the pilot for “Deep Fried America” will debut on the Travel Channel at 12:30 p.m. on June 25.
On his website, Ducote says he shot the half-hour pilot in Austin, Texas, in November.
“I had a blast exploring the city and all the deliciousness that emerged from their deep fryers,” Ducote writes, and later adding that his contract is with Scripps Networks, the parent company that owns the Food Network, the Cooking Channel, HGTV and the Travel Channel.
Travel Channel has yet to order a full season of the show, Ducote says. A decision to do so will come after the pilot airs.
For now, Ducote intends to host a viewing party at The Varsity in Baton Rouge at noon on June 25.
“I’m extremely excited about this opportunity, more excited than I have been about anything since going to film Food Network Star nearly a year and a half ago. However, I’m always looking ahead and keeping my eye on what’s next,” Ducote writes. “The goal wasn’t to shoot a pilot for my own show on Food Network or Travel Channel; the goal is to film a whole season. And then another one. And then another. And to keep chasing that dream.”
Ducote says he will be active on social media under the tag #deepfriedamerica.
