Permits, property deals and events shaping Ascension

Here are the latest property transactions and issued permits, as well as upcoming business-related events in the parish.

Issued permits

  • A new construction permit was issued for the 16-unit Havenscourt assisted living facility on Airline Highway in Prairieville. The building is slated to be two stories totaling 11,838 square feet, according to the permit. The company website states that Havenscourt is an assisted living community dedicated to caring for people at every stage. The facility will offer specialized care for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Ram Construction is the listed contractor for the $1.5 million project.
  • A new construction permit was issued for a 25,000 square-foot office and warehouse space in the Ascension Industrial Park on La. 73 in Geismar. The project is part of the industrial park’s third filing. The bid price is $2 million and RW Construction Inc. is the listed contractor.

Property transactions

  • A pair of local investors, Hany Yousef and Daniel Jongmun Park, acquired the Eastbank Shopping Center property on La. 30 near South Burnside Avenue from Donnie Jarreau’s BBG & One LLC for $10 and other considerations. The roughly 128,000 square foot retail center boasts a tenant mix that features Tractor Supply, Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, Dollar Tree and Citi Trends.
  • New York investor Moris Yeroshalmy purchased a 2.74-acre vacant tract on South Outfitters Drive in Gonzales next to Bass Pro Shops from Life Group International for an undisclosed amount. Business filings with the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office list Randy Gomez as the registered agent and manager of Life Group International.

  • Ascension Parish Chamber of Commerce: The organization will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Rio Verde Mexican Grill on April 14 from 11 a.m. to noon. The restaurant is located at 14210 Airline Hwy Suite J, Gonzales.
  • Golf gathering: The Ascension Parish Chamber of Commerce is hosting an event celebrating the opening of The Back Nine Golf on April 16 from 11 a.m. to noon. The business is located off La. 30 near Bass Pro Shops in Gonzales. 
  • Leadership Ascension social: There will be a Leadership Ascension Alumni Introduction Social on April 16 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hokus Pokus Liquor on Airline Highway. Registration is $10 per alum and free for the class of 2025 graduates.
  • Women in Business: The Women in Business Experience presented by FMOL Health Our Lady of the Lake St. Elizabeth is set for April 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Price Leblanc PACE Center.
  • Ascension Parish Day at the Capitol: The annual event will be April 22 at the Capitol Park Museum on 4th St. in Baton Rouge, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
  • Library opening: The grand opening of the new St. Amant library and community center on La. 431 will be at 10 a.m. on April 25.
