Several companies in the media and tech industries have announced layoffs since the beginning of August, with some 30,000 employees affected, Fast Company reports.
Tech giant Intel was the first big name to announce job cuts when the chip manufacturer on Aug. 1 said it would lay off around 15,000 of its staff—or about 15% of its total workforce.
Dell Technologies Inc. followed suit on Monday when it confirmed to Bloomberg that earlier reports that it was preparing to lay off employees were correct. While it’s currently unclear how many employees will be impacted by the Dell layoffs, it has been reported that the number could be as high as 12,500, or about 10% of its staff.
