Jabby’s Pizza and Salon James are the two newest tenants of the planned neighborhood lifestyle development, Highland Park Marketplace.
The pizza concept and salon are part of the fourth phase of the development currently underway at the corner of Old Perkins Road and Highland Road. That phase includes three buildings, one of which will house a sit-down restaurant with an outdoor patio.
The slab for a 13,000-square-foot retail building—the first in the phase to be constructed—was poured last week. That building will house both Jabby’s Pizza and Salon James, as well as Bengals and Bandits, Pilates Plus, Morgan Claire Boutique of Lafayette, NK Boutique and Burgersmith.
Bill Sanders, the development’s leasing agent, says the goal is for the building and the tenants to open by the end of this year.
“We’re chomping at the bit for the development to be open. It’s been a long time coming,” says Sanders of Beau Box Commercial Real Estate. “We hope it’s going to be a shopping center unlike any shopping center in Baton Rouge.”
Jabby’s is a new quick fire pizza concept. The owners could not immediately be reached for comment. This will be the second location for Salon James, a salon and spa, which has a location in Hammond Aire.
Sanders says the building and its tenants are on track to open by year’s end. The development is going vertical next to Alexander’s Highland Market.
Sanders says the sit-down restaurant will be the focal point of the center. Sanders says discussions are taking place with several restaurants, and letters of intent are circulating with possible tenants for the last building in the phase. Three remaining outparcels will be filled after the fourth phase is complete.
