Permit filed for new Salsbury’s dealership on Airline Highway
One year after purchasing a 12.2-acre tract on Airline Highway, just south of Interstate 12, the Salsbury family has filed a site plan application to build a new Salsbury’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership and repair shop on the property.
Salsbury’s General Manager Frank Lopinto could not be reached for comment today in time for publication. However, he told Daily Report in Oct. 2014, at the time the property was purchased, that the plan was to relocate the dealership at 9550 Airline Hwy. to the site.
According to the permit filed this week, the company plans to erect three buildings totaling 64,385 square feet on the site and create 273 parking spots.
The Salsbury family purchased the land for $3.5 million from the Broussard-Capozzoli family.
“It’s a real estate investment for the dealership, and at some point we will expand down there,” Lopinto told Daily Report at the time of the purchase. “But at this point I can’t tell you if it’s two years away or five years.”
The application will be taken up by the Planning Commission at its Nov. 16 meeting.
